Willfully TRYING to fall asleep is one of the best ways to stay awake.
If you’re trying to fall asleep, try lying still and actively focus your attention on staying awake. If you convince your brain to try and stay awake, it’ll think that it must be falling asleep (otherwise why would you try so hard to stay awake?) and it’ll make you sleepy.
Usually when I’m trying to fall asleep, I just think really hard about something that I can’t usually think about when I’m actually doing something and I guess it works because I eventually fall asleep.
ALLIE! Yay she is awesome. as said above, hyperbole and a half. My husband spit his drink out his nose when I made him read the special dog one the first time.
List things alphabetically and it really helps your brain go to sleep. Try to make it something halfway difficult like movie titles, people you know, etc. It really works though in this type of situation where your brain won’t let you sleep.
Not sure how you expect to get to sleep with your eyes wide open like that, but I’d suggest closing them. It helps, along with not staring at a clock.

Reverse psychology on yourself?!
I try this form time to time, I can’t speak for others, but it dosen’t work for me.
This is from Hyperbole and a Half. Why can’t you make your own comix instead of stealing from others?
Please shat yourself from the unjustice of this world.
Why, because I’m right?
Way to suggest that the world is an injustice, by the way. Perhaps you should learn some sentence structure.
lol, the last frame makes the comic~

Same here.
Seriously. Just submitting it from Hyperbole without any editing/alterations or credit? Wow. Hi-LARIOUS!!
Count all the sheep!
Wow, talk about first world problems in the comments…
Needs to end with him waking up at 6am to his alarm clock and his brain telling him how amazingly sleepy and compfy he is.
Insomnia sucks

I hate when that happens and I have to get up early the next day.

isn’t it obvious that this guy is stealing from theoatmeal?
More obvious, I’m surprised no one pointed out that the brain looks like a pair of balls.
