  1. Ghostwish says:

Well if you’re going to test the most forgiving being’s limits…

And no, I’m not going to say the f word.

  2. atlantis1982 says:

If Jesus is face palming, you know it has to be epic fail.

    • Buckaroo says:

You know what real Christians say about those kind of people? “God Bless their hearts.”

It’s how Christians say “What a bunch of retards.” without acting offensive. I’m a born again believer, and I found this Comix to be funny!

  3. Bee says:

Concept is very good, but there is no mention of Jesus on any of those signs, so that’s a fail.

  4. dun duur says:

thought with the kid asking it was gonna be a peado thing.. as it is.. its just poor.

  5. Annoymious says:

Those god hating fags are about as bad as catholic people since they also aknowledge the existance of a god. Sigh.

    • food for thought says:

e^ix = cos x + i sin x. Explain how this mathematical formula came to be without a higher power designing it.

      • Annoymious says:

Dude I’m a civil engineer :D that’s a pretty basic formula, and it makes sense because it’s basically its definition. Maths is just a “language” for describing our environment with science. Did you know there are different mathematical views – all equivalent but different – with different formulas? Of couse they do all lead to the same results considering a given problem.
That formula is the base of 2D functions: F:R->R:(x,y)->(z), with z the complex variable based as (x,y): x + i*y.

        • food for thought says:

oh, I understand all of that, I’m an electrical engineering major :) . But math is essentially gives us rules that define our world, correct? The acceleration of an object will always be the derivative of its velocity, for example. What I find difficult to believe is all of these rules that define how the universe works came to be without it being designed by a higher power, call it God if you will. It seems ludicrous to me that these rules appeared by themselves.

          • Hmm says:

Sort of like, “Who wrote the Laws of Physics” kind of thing?

I definitely agree. ;) Too much comes together too well to not have been designed. The universe is also far too vast to have no point. Why extend past us if we are the sole focus? o.O

          • Gw says:

            True that.
Perhaps Mr. Annoymious figured out the formula on the internet before replying.

          • Chaos says:

The rules are natural cause and effect of the world. Like a stalagmite/stalactite, if you look at it, it looks like a beautiful design which could not have come from anything but a greater design, but its just water dripping. These basic laws are simply our way of perceiving and describing the world, they may even be totally wrong sometimes. But really, it doesn’t show any great design behind it all.

            • Annoymious says:

Correct. And also, “greatness” is a human term. What seems to be a complex way of life and a very well designed society for us (e.g. termites and ants) might be very simple (to the termites or ants themselves).
The maths we learns are hardly ever applicable in a direct way: (almost) everything we calculate is done through approximations.
We will never correctly predict in what time a car will come to a stop if the driver hits the brakes, but we can give a good approximation of when it will. It’s not all that great, really.
If you would stipulate that a more intelligent being visited the earth to teach us things (e.g. Egyptians, Mayans,…), I would agree – but this is definitly not a god :-) .

          • Serfis says:

Ahh the old “too perfect to not have been designed argument.” One of the weakest arguments for the existence of God.

The thing is, when you talk about something like this, it’s not a coincidence, it’s our observations. We are beings that observe patterns and relationships, and this is one that we found. Just because a relationship exists doesn’t mean someone or something had to create it.

And the argument is very flawed, as there are MANY things in this world that aren’t perfect. Not to mention the whole evolution thing kinda putting a damper on it

            • o.O says:

Evolution putting a damper on it? That’s a laugh.

Everything developed and such, but obeyed certain laws. They are completely independent of our observations. Then, there’s the fact that we kind of exist…

              • ArchStanton says:

“Laws” is also a human term based on perception. Just because certain conditions mean that certain effects won’t happen doesn’t mean that anything is following a law. For a cloud without rain on a sunny day with low humidity is not following an anti-rain law. The conditions do not exist for the likelihood of the event so it doesn’t happen.

Religion is just human perception desperately trying to make sense of what it cannot control.

      • Octavio says:

        troll pwned

      • Jo says:

        Perhaps…. WE are god, collectively.

        • Jimmylou says:

Maybe “God’s Realm” is an alien metaphor word for a perfect, peacefull community status?

The bible is like a parent’s guide then. :D

      • Thisguy says:

        fuck!

    • asdf says:

You spelled existence wrong. Your argument is invalid.

      • Annoymious says:

Those god hating fags are about as bad as catholic people since they also aknowledge the existence of a god. Sigh.

        - is it valid now?
        Sincerely,
        Annoymious.

        • Anon says:

No, because the sign says God Hates Fags, not god hating fags

          • Annoymious says:

            You must be confused :D

            • Drew says:

no, the signs DO say “god hates fags”. Its the westboro baptist church’s catchphrase.

              • o.O says:

But, it wasn’t what the guy was talking about at all. He is saying those guys hate God, and they do. Nobody who can call him / herself a God loving Christian would blaspheme so blatantly.

It’s basically, “I love you” *smacks in the face*.

                • Gaelan says:

Who said those guys hate God? Their signs don’t say that. They say that God hates fags, God hates America, etc. And the people waving the signs are happy about that, because they love God and hate fags and America, etc. They see God as being on their side. I agree with you about the blasphemy and not being good Christians and such, but I think you’re misunderstanding this comic.

                  • Jimmylou says:

If you are a peacfull god and tell someone to be nice, and then that one person uses your name to make his hate agains others more powerfull, it’s like double-betraying you. Maybe god still loves them, but I’m pretty sure he is confused about their behavior.

        • Anonymous says:

I am a Catholic, and this comment made me realize that I don’t like you. People who completely flame Catholics make me furious, since Catholicism is (I’m sure) a branch of Christianity. Oh, and you spelled Anonymous in your name wrong.

    • Corpsolian says:

      Lol trolls.

  6. Rover says:

I’m an atheist, but if Fred Phelps were to be struck by lightning on a clear day, I would reconsider my position.

  7. tereglith says:

If anybody’s up for divine smiting, it’s the WBC.

  8. Jared says:

    Kind of depressing, really…

  9. Snake Plissken says:

I was expecting a ginger joke and a crying baby face.

  10. kurisu7885 says:

Jesus loves them, he just really doesn’t like them.

  11. Emily says:

Really? You just compared Catholics to Fred Phelps’ inbred, horrific tribe? Shame. And a thumbs-up to kurisu7885 for the best answer.

  12. Boffo says:

Basically, it’s as simple as this: These people, despite their delusions, are not Christians. Jesus isn’t about hate, and that’s all these people are about.

There are several basic scriptures being ignored by these morons, such as “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone” (paraphrase of John 8:7). And I think that’s what the comic author was getting at.

But don’t ever assume that real Christians are even remotely like this.

    • thecreeper says:

Agreed x100. People (both Christians and non-Christians) need to realize that the point of the religion is forgiveness and loving everyone.

      • Annoymious says:

        Let me rephrase.
Religion was brought to life /by people/ to explain things that could not yet be explained. E.g. lightning, flooding, bad harvest,… the Greeks and Romans dedicated this to their gods. Christianity is just another variation, with the difference that there was only 1 god. Also, this god would set the basic for morals through the bible.
People that nowadays want to apply the rules described in that book are trying to live in a modern world with rules and regulations from 2000 years ago. Obviously this won’t work.

Many people find happiness in religion, a connection with other people that bonds them – something that makes them feel better. These people represent what you represent in religion and I have no problem with such religious people.

The instant a religion, however, claims to know the answer, defying science, or claiming other religions are fawlty – or when a religion tries to force its own laws upon others – then it is wrong. Extremists do this: muslim terrorists for example. But there are also a lot extremist catholics. You choose to state they aren’t real christians, but they claim to be representatives of “god” and of what’s right.

In such a way, religion is dangerous.

As a final statement I’d like to say that I can forgive and love people without having to be religious. I don’t exactly understand how so many people can only be united by the idea of a god – I can unite with other people just because it’s right to be forgiving and loving.

        • Anonymous Moose says:

          TL;DR.

        • o.O says:

You missed the entire point of all of this…

        • Jo says:

          *gives internet hug* <3

I totally agree. All religions really basically teach a few same things… a few of which is to treat others as you would like them to treat you, and of course, to be kind and caring etcetc.

So let us all be tolerant of each other's beliefs, and treat each other with respect, care and love… Because we are all humans, and we are fundamentally the same. I believe, if there is a god up there or somewhere, he/she would want to see that more than anything else. :)

And nope, not Christian. I'm strictly more spiritual than religious (perhaps due to my Buddhist upbringing).

          Peace!

        • Zoe says:

So much win was in that comment; no words can express how I feel about this. You just summarized in a COMIXED post what I’ve been thinking for years – much more eloquently than I could have written it, by the way. Thank you.

    • polish whiner says:

      thx for info

    • Snowbunnies says:

Yeah it’s taken me a long time to realize this, but this isn’t the fault of Christianity. People like the ones pictured above twist and pervert their religion to reinforce their hate in spite of all reasons not to.

It’s easy to blame Christianity and act like it’s just a hateful religion, but that’s not right either. People like this are hateful losers because they’re hateful losers. They just lack the spine to be hateful all on their own, so they back it up by stuffing their hate into God’s mouth and ignoring/perverting any part of their faith that doesn’t help them do that.

Ultimately, some people are just like that no matter which group/religion/organization they’re a part of. There are people who twist the Muslim faith to turn it into terrorism and violence. In past centuries there are people who have used Shinto to kill Buddhists. There are even plenty of atheists who can turn their belief in no religion into a reason to hate individuals under an umbrella statement that doesn’t apply to everyone.

It’s best to hate intolerance, not whatever the intolerant are using at the time to justify their behavior.

      • Annoymious says:

Exactly! How did that take you long to realize?

      • Columbina says:

        You. Are. Amazing.

      • Gaelan says:

But…if it’s not the fault of the belief system, then why do SO MANY hateful people identify with it? Why do whole Christian organizations express these hateful attitudes? These guys are small potatoes–we can dismiss them easily. But recently, the Catholic Church said that if the District of Columbia allowed gays to get married, the Church would stop providing social services to the homeless in D.C. How is the world is that an expression of love like Jesus expressed? And if the world’s oldest, largest Christian organization is doing crap like this as official policy, it calls the religion itself into question.

    • Jonn says:

Considering that most of the members are related to Phelps, it’s more like a cult.

      • Rathx says:

Yes, but EVERY religion is a cult….

        • Nasty Little Troll says:

They start out that way. On the strict definition, cults are small religious groups that differ significantly from the major/dominant religions of the place they are found. Christianity in early Rome was a cult; in late Rome it was not.

        • Zoe says:

Yes, I suppose all religions were at one time cults.

I think it went something like, “Here’s an outlandish idea explaining why earthquakes happen!” Then, “Oh, 10 people believe me; Cool. Oh— 100 people. Awesome! 1,000 people? Well, the more the merrier! OH MAN, 1,000,000 PEOPLE BELIEVE ME. MY THEORY MUST BE TRUE.”

However many years later, we have Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and other religions. The end.

    • schneeblefish says:

I looked WBC up on wikipedia: “The WBC is not affiliated with any known Baptist conventions or associations. The church describes itself as following Primitive Baptist and Calvinist principles, though mainstream Primitive Baptists reject the WBC and Phelps.”

They could’ve at least called themselves non-denominational rather than lie…

    • lurker says:

      You tell em, Borro.

  13. Limrasson says:

I’m not from the USA, but those morons are. And the “Thank God for dead soldiers” pisses me of. For me, they are idiotic traitors of their own country. And we all know what traitors deserve. They should get it.

  14. Aguy says:

Jesus loves them, just disappointed in those douches

  15. Posky says:

I can sympathize with Jesus here. My dad hates lots of my favorite things too.

  16. zarkosy says:

the Divine Facepalm is the ultimate facepalm of them all.

  17. Murray says:

Seems that Jesus is dissapointed with those haters. They’ve got COMPLETLY the wrong idea!!

  18. IED'd Marine says:

I almost wish someone would IED them.

  19. food for thought says:

wow. this was a comic that involved both Jesus AND the WBC. And the comments have been surprisingly tame and well-intentioned. Barely a flame in sight. I’ve never seen this before.

  20. Slimey says:

As a veteran, I’m all about free speech. In fact, I’ll stand up with these jackasses if anyone tries to stop them from speaking their god-awful filth because, as much as we hate it, it’s their right.

However, comma, it’s people like this that make us want to impose limits on those rights and ultimately undermine the freedoms which we fight so hard to protect… kinda like the terrorists and, consequently, long-ass lines at the airport while the minimum wage TSA clowns save outlines of our naughty bits with their latest piece of intrusive technology – all in the name of ‘safety’

    • Tony says:

I’m not a veteran (but thanks for your service.), but I agree, I’ll stand up for their right to say whatever idiotic thing they want.

However, I also stand up for the folks who protest their idiotic comments, which, fortunately, seems to be WAY more people.

(Just look up the reception they got when they went to Comic-Con)

      • Annoymious says:

I agree to the principle of free thought, but is it really correct to let people spew hate around, hiding behind the argument of freedom of speech?

Basically, you are now bending over, taking their crap and even defending the fact they’re abusing a concept. Even though this is a very /left/ point of view, and I vote left, I believe that everyone should be more like you, but that a transition is impossible without eradicating the extremists (which starts by not bending over, obviously).

Point being: as long as you keep tolerating this, this is going to keep happening. If nobody stands up, nothing will change, even though you’d want things to change. Just don’t blame anyone except yourself.

        • Slimey says:

They’re on the line of yelling “FIRE!” in a crowded movie theater, which is not protected speech. They’ll screw up soon, make some comment about wanting to overthrow the government, or some other statement that can be interpreted to mean they intend to commit a crime, then BAM! open season…

        • 5150 says:

But then again, who are you to decide who to stop protesting and who to support. It’s not “tolerating”, it’s simply allowing everyone the right to their own opinion, no matter how asinine. You have your own opinion about those protesters in the above picture and would have every right to protest against them and show them how they are abusing a concept.

It’s when you start assuming you have the right to tell others what they can say and can not say with their “freedom of speech” that you create intolerance. Very few people agree/support incorrect @sses like those pictured, so trying to shut them down might make their arguments that much stronger by making them seem “taboo”. People will pay more attention to them if there is active resistence to allowing them to protest. Just a thought.

          • Slimey says:

I’m not making myself clear. I don’t want to stop them from speaking their opinion but there’s a difference between free speech and trying to incite violence. I, all of us, don’t have the authority to say which words those are, hence my likening it to the “yelling ‘fire!’ in a crowded movie theater” or someone saying they’re going to shoot the president. There are phrases, if you will, that aren’t protected and WBC are taking that path.

    • blahdiblah says:

I often think whatever they are doing, crosses the limits of free speech into harrassment, and inciting to hate crimes.

I do NOT think it is appropriate for people to protest at a funeral. That’s is not free speech.

      • Caelestis says:

I agree completely with what you said in the second paragraph. Protesting is okay (even for something as twisted and wrong as this), but when you protest at the funeral of someone who died defending his/her country, that crosses a line.

  21. Igetstabby says:

    will ignorance ever fade~

    • Soldieriniraq says:

Well from what i got of this comixed was that these people hate the government and the military. Not they were god haters. So i don’t know what started all these posts about religion and what not. But, as a soldier currently in Iraq (finishing my 3rd tour), i check this site everyday for entertainment. And seeing pictures like this make me wonder what’s the point of me being a soldier when you can have people (even if not American), hold up signs that say “Thank God for dead Soldiers” and still have a smile on their faces.

I wish i could meet these people in person and show them a little of my own divine wrath.

      • Gw says:

I sincerely respect your opinion sir.

However, I despite when people blames God for actions from others by sole ignorance…like those terrorist and their ridiculous religious believes… and we r still enrage.
I’m NOT religious. But I believe I have no right to add his name….not even in joke, why not on Bush.

PS. Hope u return safe :)

      • sirseansy says:

these people live in a little town in kansas called westboro.
        just so you know.

PS:its true you can probly find them there.

  27. Justin says:

This looks like a good place to debate religion! I bet we can accomplish a lot through this format.

    • Mr.Reapfeac says:

Yeah…note to self: Don’t bother looking for remotely funny comments in comix, pics, fails, wins, and such more related slightly to Religion cause all your going to find is boring debates, discussions, a slight bit of trolling, with a good hint of discrimination. I’m upset with that fact oh well, NEXT COMIC PLEASE! *changes to next page*

      • mavisbeecon says:

Got it wrong there. There is the occasional shocker, look at ‘Thisguy”s comment above about slaying them.
‘Through the fire and the flames we find our lulz.’

    • Anon says:

Indeed! And if we disagree we should GET ANGRY. ON THE INTERNET.

  28. ssf says:

I live in Wichita, ks and I’ve had the unbridled “joy” of witnessing these idiots. They have their children stomp on the american flag just to get the attention of passing motorists. I’ve been to a funeral, early in their picketing days, of a young homosexual man who had died of AIDS. I cried for days for his parents because of the effects Fred Phelps had on them. And then I realized I had let them win. I let them effect me. The best thing to do is not pay them the attention they crave. They are nothing to me and do not represent the christian ideals I was raised with and I know God loves everyone unconditionally and they have no power!

  29. hain says:

    LEAVED JESUS alone

Strange, depressing, and yet kind of chuckleworthy.

  30. The Green Pirate says:

    WBC makes Jesus cry.

  31. Shame says:

It is such a shame that people does not know God, God says that the bible describes Him, He says I am who I am, my word says who I am ,unfortunately most of you never heard of Him. I am extally emberassed by the fact that I’ve opened this website, I feel sorry for you that does not know God. I pray that you will feel otherwise somehow, God bless you.

  32. Lee says:

Westboro Baptist Church makes Jesus facepalm.

  33. Disappointed says:

I hate this comixed. While in itself it’s funny, it brings out “discussion” (i.e., preaching) about how great “God” is, and how everyone is a fucking idiot for not believing in “Him.” You have a different opinion from those who believe in Christ/God/Whatever? Fuck you! Your logic is irrelevant and will be countered by blowing of raspberries and them saying the complete opposite, followed by “Aha! What now, punk!?” I could go on for hours, but these people have already wasted enough of my time.

    • anon says:

Yeah it’s totally like religious people come out of the brickwork and start harassing atheists all across the internet on sites like this. It’s certainly not that something remotely biblical is mentioned and a horde of teenagers spam “LOL you’re retarded & naive.”

  34. bubsAKAvermin says:

So much philosiphy going on here.

    TL;DR much ._.

  35. nevadacharlieindiaseirra says:

As someone with many family members in the military, the Westboro church makes me sick. The sight of the little girl holding a sign saying ‘thank God for IED’s’ is heartbreaking. My uncle was severely injured by an IED in Iraq, and he lost his sight in one eye. He’s going back for another tour in a week. Too bad these people can’t appreciate what heroes Armed Service members are. This isn’t about religion, it’s about one man’s anger issues.

  36. TheDoctor'sDaughter says:

Haven’t seen a single comment mentioning Buddy Christ, OR Dogma. Shame on you!
Jay and Silent Bob, man! Jay and Silent Bob!
