I hate to break this to you man, but you’re fucking wrong. And I don’t even like Obama. He was, however the lesser of two evils.
1. Sarah Palin isn’t even smart enough to tell the difference between a call from a foreign diplomat and a prank by a radio station.
2. She is terrible at public speaking, and failing that charisma is a poor choice for a leader.
3. Her idea of a foreign affairs background is living in Alaska. Why? Because they share a border with us here in Canada (yes I’m Canadian, and yes, I keep up with foreign politics. Deal with it). Canada barely even deals with Alaska. Hell, most people forget it exists.
4. Socializing medicine is one of the few great things Obama is doing. It allows all people, regardless of social standing and economic stability to receive the help they need, and that includes the elderly, the mentally handicapped and diabetics.
A few months ago a charity event was held in my hometown. They replaced the key not speaker, who was an expert in the field and actively involved with the charity, for Sarah Palin. The entire city got angry, and there was some intense protesting done. The irony? The charity was for Socialized Medicine.
Seriously, get your head out of your ass. Sarah Palin is an uncultured, uncouth, hypocrite of a person, who has no business running a country. We here in Canada might not all like Obama, but almost all of us heave a communal sigh of relief knowing that John McCain and Sarah Palin are far, far away from the White House.
Last I checked socialized medicine doesn’t do ANY that. Everyone keeps ranting that in Canada people die from the system- when in reality more people in the USA die because they cannot get healthcare due to not having enough money or because they have pre-existing conditions (hey- like people with diabetes turns out). Socialized medicine has proved over and over again that it works. Look at Hawaii- when you walk into a hospital you get treated immediately and they worry about the insurance bit later- when you go back to the mainland you go into a hospital and get refused treatment if you don’t have your insurance card on you. There have been an influx of Americans to *FRANCE* because not only is their healthcare system is better- but their work environments are better.
Once I’m done with school I am not going to readily get healthcare because of pre-existing conditions, in which case the insurance system we have in place now IS KILLING ME if I live in a state that can allow that. Socialized health care allows even those people with pre-existing conditions get the care that they need to live. Right now- our system cannot do that. It has been proven over and over that our system in place is one of **the worst** out of the industrialized nations. Look at the FACTS and how it actually works before you bash it. There has been DECADES of research (Hawaii has had it for 40+ years) proving it works and is the best option for EVERYONE. Check your flipping facts and stop being brainwashed by the insurance companies.
Obama is advocating FOR THE PEOPLE of the USA- and not for the insurance companies. For those of us who are sick and are being denied, for those that can either barely afford or not afford care at all, for the sick babies being born that can’t get treatment because their parents can’t afford healthcare. He is trying to do what is best for us. Leave him the eff alone.

Socialized medicine is cheaper. People can now be rejected by a hospital if there is nobody to pay for the required procedures. As a result, they get more sick, and then they have to come in as emergency patients (assuming they don’t die), where their treatment is a good deal more expensive and time-consuming.
In socialized medicine, the government – and by extension the entire population – will pay for any and all treatment. People too poor to have insurance are treated at cost of everybody.
Is it just me, or is that simply government-mandated charity?
Of course it’s more taxes… for people without insurance now, it would probably cost them a bit more on their taxes (probably low-income people), but bracketed to be a smaller hit than people who do have a larger income (which, most of them already buy private insurance – so it may not make much of a difference to them).
Self-employed people would of course have to pay more estimate taxes.
Now I personally not a big fan of the Social Security, government funded pension stuff. I would kill that in return… but not everyone can or knows how to properly save for retirement, even if they were good people and hard workers. However give companies a small tax break for pension incentives for their employees (like a more lucrative 401k… or something like that).
Of course, I am not a politician or a federal financial expert… so this is just a layman spouting his opinion on “how it all should work”

The main thing about Obama’s plan that sticks in my craw is,#1 if you can’t afford insurance you can be fined up to $700.00 every month you aren’t covered
#2 the IRS will be dolling those fines out,and collecting them(wich means if you can’t afford insursnce and get fined,but then you do manage to get insurance,the biggest crooks in the country are going to come after you for their money).and #3 Obama’s plan is not socialized medical care.If it was the taxes we will end up paying should pay for our coverage.We shouldn’t have to pay for a plan too.We should all get a medical card issued from some government office that can be used at any hospital or clinic.And lastly if our taxes are going to pay for this,why or how can we be fined if we are paying for iy anyway ?
Both sides are wrong. The system we have in place is horrible, but the best in the world. We drive medical innovation for the planet! People come here to have their lives saved, not Canada or France. But it only works for those that can pay. Government control won’t work because if you give it all away for free, entitled people with consume the services with “I have a cold, I need a doctors appointment today.” or “Hey I am depressed how about some plastic surgery to cure that.” What needs to be done is tort reform to stop lawsuits from ending up in 40 million because the doctor messed up. In extreme cases where the doctors cause death due to negligence, I can see a large payout, but people are lawsuit crazy. Next BREAK up the large insurance companies, and allow us to buy insurance across state lines. Where I live currently I have the choice of 2 major health care providers, but I can buy car insurance, auto repair insurance, life insurance, homeowners insurance from many different companies. Competition drives price down. Finally, I agree with Obama, insurance companies rejecting you based on a pre-existing conditions or dropping you during treatment of any disease for paper work errors NEEDS TO BE ILLEGAL. So pass a law, don’t have the government take over health care. The government has allowed social security to become bankrupt. We spend over 750 billion a year on our military…Europe spends 230 billion. These “elected officials” lie, cheat and steal from us for projects on both sides that have no real value to Americans. Both Republicans and Democrats both have increased the national debt to about 13 trillion. Yet we continue to allow our government to take more and more of our freedoms and our earnings to do with as they see fit. Palin is a soccer mom that honestly believes she cares and does make “some” good points, but she is just another person milking the system and selling books / public appearances. Obama the “President of the United States” is still campaigning. From town hall to town hall he goes wasting time trying to get on TV to promote his agenda. I thought he already won the presidency, if you want to speak to the people Mr. President all you have to do is ADDRESS THE NATION. We will listen and make up our own minds, this is America not a pep rally sir!!! Finally, the current wait times in England for general surgery to neurology is within 18 weeks. “So sir you have cancer and would like to see a specialist, we can almost guarantee you will see a doctor within 18 weeks.” If someone said that to me I would be pissed. In the US though cancer patients are denied expensive life saving treatment if they can’t afford it. Personally I thought we were more evolved than that here in the US. Sorry, this topic gets my blood boiling. We need tort reform, new laws to help everyone to be treated fairly by insurance companies, and competition to drive prices down while increasing benefits. What we need more than that is a government that will listen to its people, not rich politicians that have become disconnected with reality.
